The Traveling Banking Specialist I—commonly known in the industry as a bank teller or retail banking associate—is a key client-facing role responsible for delivering an exceptional experience across multiple branch locations throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.

In this retail banking role, you will support various branches as needed, performing financial transactions typically associated with a bank teller position while providing a high-touch, relationship-focused client experience. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to maintaining consistent service excellence across locations.

What You Will Be Doing
Client Experience & Relationship Building
- Deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience across multiple branch locations by greeting clients warmly, building rapport quickly, and reinforcing First Bank’s service standards regardless of location.
Retail Banking Transactions (Teller Functions)
- Process a full range of client transactions—including deposits, withdrawals, payments, and check cashing—with accuracy and efficiency. Perform responsibilities aligned with bank teller functions within a fast-paced retail banking environment.
Branch Support & Flexibility
- Provide operational and client service support to various branches based on business needs, staffing gaps, or peak periods. Quickly adapt to different teams, client bases, and branch environments.
Digital Banking Education
- Educate clients on banking technology and self-service tools, including online banking, bill pay, ATMs, debit cards, and other digital resources to enhance convenience and accessibility.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include balancing teller drawers, supporting ATM and vault functions (as applicable), maintaining dual control, placing appropriate holds, and promptly resolving or escalating discrepancies.
Product Knowledge & Development
- Maintain a working knowledge of bank products and services to effectively support client needs and ensure consistency across all branch interactions.
Referrals & Relationship Expansion
- Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships by referring appropriate banking products and services to internal partners. Support branch-level goals through meaningful client engagement.

Qualifications, Competencies, and Skills

Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- At least six months of relevant work experience preferred; prior experience in banking, retail banking, or a bank teller role is strongly preferred.
Adaptability & Flexibility
- Ability to quickly adjust to different branch environments, teams, and client demographics while maintaining performance and professionalism.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail
- Ability to process financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

Compensation Disclosure
The range for this role takes into account many factors that First Bank considers when making hiring decisions, including but not limited to prior experience, skill set, training, and internal equity. First Bank generally does not hire at or near the top of the stated range. Compensation may vary based on specific work locations throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $19.50 – $23.75 hourly.
