What You'll Do

  • Drive goals and strategies flowed down from your Manager/Supervisor and ETG Directors of Project/Process Engineering that support and are aligned with established organizational objectives.
  • Manage team for standardized/best practices that meet the needs of customer requirements and upper management.
  • Manage assigned new or repeat estimating activities of the team using the ERP system with consistency in methods, costs, and eventual product launch to Manufacturing for effective/accurate planning, costing, and quality.
  • Review team-developed estimates to ensure quality, manufacturability, and cost alignment
  • Provide training in engineering procedures and technical guidance to the team members where needed.
  • Manage effective use of the ERP system for developing revision controlled BOM structures, configuration control, methods, callout/use of instructions, and process design.
  • Provide weekly status updates to the ETG Directors of Project/Process Engineering and ensure that your team is sending out weekly Project Tracker updates to ETG upper management.
  • Manage scheduled plans, engineer staffing, goals, and projects for your team members as flowed down from upper management
  • Oversee new project execution and NPD from initial process design through first article shipment, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery with documented lessons learned
  • Provide technical presentations to existing and new customers or vendors where required
  • Support travel to customers, suppliers or vendor sites and individually handle the engagements/meetings without assistance
  • Mentor and train other less experienced Project or Project/Process engineers
  • Facilitate or host customer and vendor visits without assistance
  • Oversee file management of project specific drawings, data sets, models, and part lists
  • Support the development and improvement of engineering departmental procedures
  • Manage/support the maintenance of engineering drawings and standards
  • Participate in jointly developing PFMEAs where/when necessary to mitigate risk
  • Facilitate observation/time studies by the team for developing standards and improving processes, with documenting of processes as assigned
  • Analyze/evaluate process and cost data (ex. planned vs. actual) for decision-making purposes
  • Track/manage process improvement activities of the team for assigned parts/projects 
  • Evaluate, research, and perform due diligence of new technology(s) for remaining competitive
  • Facilitate growth of direct reports with annual goal setting, annual performance reviews, quarterly check-ins, development planning, career planning, and open communication.
  • Continually assess team workload and recommend resource adjustments as necessary

 

What You'll Bring

  • 4 year BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years engineering experience or previous/relevant experience or demonstrated contributions.
  • Demonstrated ability to completely manage a project from start to finish for on-time releases/delivery, meeting the full technical requirements of the product, and at or under the estimated/planned costs
  • Can successfully mentor, train, and guide less experienced peers
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and MS Office products
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with a desire to grow in the role and apply new manufacturing technologies or processes to remain competitive.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Familiar with typical fabrication processes such as sheet metal forming, rolling, assembly, welding, heat treating, and machining
  • Have experience of strategic planning; with the ability to ensure the business meets customer requirements/deadlines.
