Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for product merchandising within large-volume stores and cleaning/servicing draft systems at company and customer accounts. This role ensures efficient product movement, attractive displays, and proper draft system maintenance while supporting special events operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Merchandising Duties:

  • Stock, rotate, and face product in coolers, shelves, racks, and displays.
  • Organize and work all back stock as required by Supervisor and Sales Representative.
  • Pull outdated, damaged, and unsellable products, place in back stock with a note to Salesperson.
  • Set up and maintain promotional displays according to company and store standards.
  • Perform final walkthrough of accounts for cleanup and trash removal.

Draft Cleaning Duties:

  • Clean and sterilize draft systems weekly, including taps, washers, faucets, valves, lines, CO2, and temperature checks.
  • Complete instructions left by sales staff promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain daily written reports of cleaning activities, issues, and opportunities.
  • Move cases of product from on-site cold storage to beverage stations during events.
  • Lift cases (35–55 lbs.) and push/pull loaded carts (100–150 lbs.); handle kegs up to approximately 165 lbs.
  • Unload cases into coolers at beverage stations and adhere to safe lifting practices.
  • Assist in resolving customer inquiries and service complaints.

Professional & Company Duties:

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including federal, state, and local regulations for alcoholic beverage merchandising.
  • Maintain valid Montana driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Properly maintain company property, including vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate dress and appearance per company standards.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and accountability in all tasks.
  • Exhibit effective interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS and KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)

Any combination equivalent to the following education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate/Bachelor’s preferred for Draft Technician/Cleaning
  • Experience using or operating draft systems preferred.
  • Previous grocery, retail, or beverage merchandising experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and handle a wide range of tasks.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, other governmental agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (including bending, reaching, lifting, pulling, etc.).
  • Understand and effectively communicate Summit Beverage's organizational mission and goals.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position is typically four, 10-hour days, spent in customer accounts and special events locations, often outside standard business hours. The shifts, end times, and total hours worked may vary depending on the season and potential special events requests.

  • Seeing: Must be able to read product labels, read and interpret documentation. Must be able to see while driving at all times of the day. 75-100%
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with fellow employees and account contacts. 75-100%
  • Standing/Walking: 75-100%
  • Sitting at Desk/Sitting while Driving: 25-49%
  • Lifting/Pushing/Pulling (Lift approx. 35-55lbs – push/pull cart approx. 100-150lb – kegs approx. 165lb): 50-74%
  • Grasping/Feeling/Hand Dexterity: 75-100%
  • Driving & Travel: Local travel between customer accounts: 25-49%

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat while traveling between customer accounts. The employee may work near moving mechanical parts, in cold coolers and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Individuals may also be exposed to potential slippery surfaces from spills, high – moderate noise level from event and audience. Otherwise, noise levels are mild in customer accounts.
