The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of facility floors, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and routine floor maintenance. The Floor Technician also supports housekeeping operations as needed and assists Supervisors and Managers in maintaining departmental standards and operational efficiency.

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:00pm

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Extended hours may be necessary based on operational needs.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Perform daily floor care, including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing as assigned.
  • Operate and maintain floor care equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow infection prevention, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Report equipment maintenance needs, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the Supervisor.
  • Document completed work according to departmental checklists and quality standards.
  • Assist other EVS staff as needed to ensure smooth operations.

 

General Responsibility as Required for Position

  • Responsible for acting in conformance with all facility and departmental policies and procedures including those relating to Human Resources, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Health and Safety regulations, Compliance requirements, Patient Rights, Confidentiality, and HIPAA. Responsible for acting in conformance with accrediting agency standards.
  • Attends department meetings as required.
  • Demonstrates accountability to accept responsibility for personal/professional growth and any required certification/licenses, if applicable.
  • Completes mandatory training and competencies annually.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in floor care or environmental services preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of floor maintenance procedures and equipment operation.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
