About The Role

As a Banquet Server in our Banquet / Catering department, you will be a key member of the event operations team, helping to deliver exceptional dining and hospitality experiences for groups of all sizes. In this hourly, full-time role, you will set up, serve, and break down banquet functions including weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, and specialty functions. You will work closely with the banquet captains, culinary staff, and event coordinators to ensure that every guest receives attentive, professional service and that all events are executed according to established standards and client expectations.


What You'll Do

  • Provide professional, friendly, and efficient food and beverage service to banquet and catering guests throughout each event.
  • Set up banquet rooms and event spaces according to banquet event orders (BEOs), including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, glassware, and service stations.
  • Assist with buffet, plated, and family-style service, including serving and clearing courses, replenishing items, and maintaining clean and organized service areas.
  • Greet guests, offer menu knowledge, respond to requests, and anticipate needs to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in compliance with company, local, and state regulations, following responsible alcohol service guidelines.
  • Coordinate with banquet captains and supervisors to ensure event timelines, service standards, and client specifications are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet spaces before, during, and after events, including resetting rooms for subsequent functions as needed.
  • Handle dishware, glassware, and equipment safely to prevent breakage, spills, and accidents during setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including proper handling of food and beverages and correct use of personal protective equipment when required.
  • Assist with the breakdown of events by clearing tables, removing linens, breaking down buffet stations, and returning supplies and equipment to designated storage areas.
  • Report guest concerns, special requests, or service issues promptly to the banquet captain or supervisor for quick resolution.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure accurate, timely food and beverage delivery, including accommodating dietary restrictions and special menus when directed.
  • Support inventory and stock control of banquet supplies, including linens, china, glassware, and service utensils as directed.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and departmental standards, including attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the overall success of the banquet and catering operations.


Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a banquet server, restaurant server, or in a similar food and beverage service role preferred; willing to train candidates with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to remain courteous, calm, and attentive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, including standard table settings, serving techniques, and dining etiquette.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions, written banquet event orders (BEOs), and standard operating procedures.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry up to [X] lbs (e.g., trays, chairs, banquet equipment), and perform repetitive motions as required.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to set up and maintain precise place settings and event layouts.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively with fellow servers, kitchen staff, and supervisors.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to dress code and grooming standards at all times while on duty.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn responsible alcohol service standards and local/state regulations regarding alcohol service.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to handle guest concerns and feedback with tact and professionalism, escalating issues to supervisors when needed.
