Pharmacy Buyer (Acquisition/Contract Specialist) – Inpatient Pharmacy | Guthrie Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY

Shift:

• Flexible day shift schedule: 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm

• No weekends!

Position Summary: 

To purchase pharmaceuticals as they relate to the hospital, including pharmaceutical supplies. Manage all aspects of drug purchasing including contracting, inventory, cost savings and compliance. 

Education, License & Cert: 

• Required: an Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field; or two years equivalent experience. 

Experience: 

• Required: a minimum of two years previous experience in purchasing, receiving, or accounting in pharmacy, hospital or other healthcare business setting. 

Essential Functions: 

• Processes all purchase orders for assigned areas and coordinates purchase of standardized drugs.

• Manages physical inventory for the hospital. 

• Maintains contract compliance. 

• Responsible for oversight of the buyer's office and all associated functions.

• Performs all financial duties that are relevant to drug purchasing. 

• Participates in 340B Program. 

Other Duties: 

• Maintains a close working relationship with participating GPO.

• Establishes and maintains the proper professional and ethical relationships with all sales representatives.

• Participates in Quality Improvement process including:

  • Identifying areas in which quality improvement processes can be applied.

  • Collecting and organizing quality measurement data. 

  • Participating in Quality Improvement Teams. 

• Maintains appropriate confidentiality.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

The pay range is $20.79 - $32.45/hour based on experience.
