Overview

We're hiring CNC Machinists for our machine shop.

You'll program, set up, and run CNC lathes and mills, entering zero and reference points, setting tool registers and offsets, and proving out part programs before the first piece runs.

You'll also run manual, conventional, and special-purpose machines. The shop math here runs to geometry and trigonometry, and when a print or setup doesn't add up, you confer with engineers and programmers to resolve it.

Responsibilities

  • Programming: Enter zero and reference points, offsets, and conditional switches.
  • Program proving: Prove out part programs before production runs.
  • Setups: Install and adjust chucks, collets, tooling, and indicating vices.
  • Print reading: Study blueprints and sketches to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Shop math: Calculate setup requirements using geometry and trigonometry.
  • Inspection: Verify settings by measuring first-run parts and sample workpieces.
  • Troubleshooting: Detect malfunctions, adjust controls, and replace worn tools.
  • Preventive maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Programs and proves out CNC lathes and mills
  • Sets up chucks, collets, and tooling independently
  • Reads blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances
  • Applies geometry and trigonometry to setup calculations
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds

Preferred

  • Associate's degree or 2–3 years machining experience
  • Prior experience on Fanuc controls
  • Experience with CAM programming software
  • Experience running manual and conventional machines
  • Overhead crane or fork truck experience
  • Thread chasing and knurling experience
  • Certificate from a technical machining program
