Position Summary

Our Detroit Metro office, located in Birmingham, MI, has an opportunity for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Labor & Employment practice. The Paralegal investigates facts, prepares documents to assist attorneys, assists with witness interviews, discovery requests and responses, document productions, litigation holds, subpoenas (responding and issuing), and deposition preparation.


Essential Functions

· Investigates facts and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters

· Summarizes complex legal documents

· Organizes and indexes case files

· Determines and calendars deadlines

· Performs wide variety of data compilation with little or no supervision

· Prepares reports, correspondence, declarations and complaints

· Drafts a variety of legal documents

· Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file

· Prepares for mediations and trials

· Assists attorneys at trial

· Assists attorneys in preparation for depositions

· Communicates with witnesses and experts

· Enters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner


Requirements

· Paralegal certification/degree from an accredited college or university

· 4+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practice

· Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw, Live Note, Relativity, CaseMap, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems
