About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer IV to join our EPC team supporting power generation and distribution projects including gas turbines, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission systems, and gas treatment facilities. This role will lead the development of high-quality mechanical equipment designs while providing technical expertise and leadership across multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive EPC project experience, deep knowledge of rotating equipment and power systems, and the ability to mentor developing engineers while also excelling in detailed engineering execution and technical coordination activities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead mechanical equipment engineering activities for EPC power generation and industrial infrastructure projects
  • Develop conceptual designs, equipment layouts, technical specifications, and cost studies for complex mechanical systems
  • Support the design, selection, and evaluation of rotating equipment including:
    • Pumps
    • Compressors
    • Blowers
    • Heat exchangers
    • Related mechanical systems
  • Apply advanced engineering methods to mechanical utility systems, gas treatment systems, and industrial process applications
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations, technical evaluations, and material take-offs
  • Review vendor drawings, equipment submittals, and multidisciplinary engineering deliverables
  • Support procurement documentation, construction packages, startup coordination, and field engineering activities
  • Coordinate closely with piping, structural, electrical, process, instrumentation, and drafting teams throughout project execution
  • Mentor entry-level and early-career engineers through technical guidance, coaching, and project support
  • Perform detailed engineering and technical execution work with minimal oversight
  • Participate in design reviews, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support engineering execution strategies that drive project quality, schedule performance, and operational efficiency
  • Employee may be required to visit job sites, field offices, and customer locations

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 10–15+ years of mechanical engineering experience within EPC, power generation, industrial, or energy infrastructure environments
  • Strong experience supporting:
    • EPC project execution
    • Power generation projects
    • Rotating equipment systems
    • Gas treatment systems
    • Vendor coordination and equipment procurement
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Piping systems and stress analysis
    • Pipe supports and specialty materials
    • Steam systems and safety devices
    • Mechanical equipment integration and utility systems
  • Proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD / Plant 3D
    • Revit
    • Navisworks
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams
  • Strong organizational, mentoring, technical leadership, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with detailed behind-the-scenes engineering execution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred
  • Experience supporting gas turbines, combined-cycle plants, renewable energy, BESS, substations, transmission systems, or industrial process facilities
  • Familiarity with startup, commissioning, and field construction support activities

Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering coordination within EPC environments
