Opportunity Details Position Type: Full-Time Location: Birmingham, Alabama Specialty: Radiation Oncology Call Requirements: No routine call anticipated Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package The APP will support the Radiation Oncology practice through management of follow-up visits, treatment-related evaluations, urgent or add-on visits, patient inquiries, symptom management, imaging and laboratory review, and coordination of care with referring physicians and other members of the oncology team. Duties & Responsibilities A typical day may include: Providing direct patient care in the Radiation Oncology clinic Performing follow-up and survivorship visits Evaluating patients during and following radiation treatment Assessing and managing treatment-related symptoms and side effects Supporting urgent, add-on, and referral visits when appropriate Reviewing laboratory studies, imaging, and other relevant clinical information Responding to patient questions related to symptoms, imaging, treatment, and follow-up care Coordinating care with radiation oncologists, referring physicians, nursing, radiation therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team Providing patient and family education throughout the treatment and follow-up process Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation Participating in departmental quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives Supporting continued refinement and growth of the Radiation Oncology program Qualifications Qualifications Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Appropriate Alabama licensure or ability to obtain licensure DEA registration, as applicable Current BLS certification; ACLS as required Oncology or Radiation Oncology experience preferred, not required New graduates with meaningful prior oncology experience, including oncology nursing, infusion services, inpatient oncology, or similar clinical experience, are encouraged to apply Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team About the Opportunity This position is particularly well suited for an APP who values close collaboration with physicians and wants to become deeply involved in the care of patients receiving radiation therapy.
