Job DetailsJob Location: Homewood Main Campus - BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance of ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to, renal, scrotal, abdominal, pelvic, penile doppler, prostate volume studies, and other studies as requested Directly assist physician with prostate ultrasounds, prostate biopsies, and placement of fiducials for Radiation Therapy Use and maintenance of ultrasound equipment Explain ultrasound procedures to patients and be readily available to answer questions Maintain suite and supplies in procedure room(s) Present images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team Interact with patient and family Provide education to patient and family  Work in conjunction with physicians and other departments as part of the healthcare team Communicate concerns immediately with referring physician and/or supervisor Chart required ultrasound results into the electronic medical record Maintain CME credits as applicable     REQUIRED SKILLS Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Ability to explain procedures Focus and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment Social perceptiveness Critical thinking Active listening and patient problem sensitivity Ability to multitask and prioritize Knowledge of internal organs of human anatomy Basic technical skills   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Capable of lifting 40 pounds Standing for long periods of time Able to work 8-hour shifts Monday – Friday in a clinic setting QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or completion of an accredited sonography program (CAAHEP-accredited preferred). Current certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is strongly preferred and often required. Common credentials include: RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Ability to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
