Staff Accountant – responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting using a strong attention to detail, critical thinking and analysis. This role will report directly to the Controller and will support the month-end close and audit process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts to maintain accurate financial records and identify discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies in a timely manner using analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Prepare and post journal entries as needed to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Use critical thinking to analyze financial trends, identify anomalies, and recommend solutions for process improvement
  • Assist in the preparation for audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting information to external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding financial reporting and tax obligations.
  • Ad-hoc reporting & analysis to support accounting leadership


Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting including account reconciliations and journal entry preparation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health Insurance experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience
  • Microsoft Excel – intermediate to advanced
