As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support field operations and the successful execution of commercial mechanical construction projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who is ready to take the next step in field leadership while developing the skills and experience needed to grow into a Superintendent role.

What You'll Do

Support Field Operations

  • Assist the Superintendent with day-to-day jobsite operations with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and schedule

  • Help coordinate field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and other project resources

  • Support project activities from startup through closeout, including sequencing and field coordination

  • Assist with short-term planning and maintaining project schedules and milestones

  • Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, and other trades

  • Participate in jobsite meetings with general contractors, clients, and project partners

  • Identify potential field challenges and communicate issues before they impact the project

Drive Safety & Quality

  • Promote and enforce VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures

  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and help identify potential hazards

  • Address and report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses

  • Help ensure installations meet project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and VMG quality standards

  • Monitor field workmanship and support inspections and quality-control activities

  • Maintain accountability for company tools, equipment, materials, and vehicles

Keep Projects Moving

  • Assist with manpower planning, material coordination, and resource allocation

  • Monitor daily progress and help ensure work remains aligned with project schedules

  • Support coordination of material and equipment deliveries to prevent delays

  • Track field activities, subcontractor work, and project-related information

  • Help identify scheduling conflicts, material needs, and other issues that could impact productivity

  • Work closely with the Superintendent and project team to resolve field challenges efficiently

Manage Planning & Documentation

  • Complete and maintain accurate daily reports, timesheets, job logs, and other required documentation

  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements

  • Maintain organized and accurate project documentation

  • Assist with tracking costs, invoices, subcontractor activities, and project progress

  • Support project closeout documentation and coordination

  • Communicate jobsite updates and project needs clearly to the Superintendent and Project Management team

Support & Develop the Team

  • Assist with leading and coordinating field crews and subcontractors

  • Help communicate expectations for safety, productivity, quality, and professionalism

  • Provide guidance and support to Foremen, Mechanics, Helpers, and Apprentices as needed

  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and strong communication across the jobsite

  • Lead by example and help maintain a respectful, results-driven work environment

  • Continue developing the leadership and technical skills needed to advance into a Superintendent role

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction

  • Commercial HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical, or MEP experience strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting field crews and day-to-day jobsite operations

  • Understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, manpower planning, and field coordination

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents

  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction/project management technology

  • OSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtain

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working on large commercial mechanical construction projects

  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, piping, or related mechanical systems

  • Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Mechanic, Project Engineer, or similar construction role

  • Experience coordinating field activities with Superintendents, Project Managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades

  • Interest in developing into a Superintendent or other field leadership position
