Position Summary:

The Purchasing Assistant provides support and assistance to the Technical Purchasing Manager in procuring goods and services for both all manufacturing facilities ensuring that critical items are delivered on time, in the correct quantity, at the best price. The position works closely with Purchasing management to ensure the most efficient sourcing of quality items and accurate and timely processing of all transactional documents.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Performing vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency.

2. Maintaining cordial working relationships with vendors and supervising vendor activities.

3. Creating and managing purchasing orders as assigned, overseeing schedules, maintaining purchase records, and ensuring orders are acknowledged by suppliers.

4. Verify accuracy of all Purchase Orders and change orders including qty., pricing, tax status, payment terms, terms & conditions, etc.

5. Assist in negotiating better prices with suppliers as necessary.

6. Contacting vendors to obtain information such as specifications, quotations, etc.

7. Conducts quoting of various items and commodities as required. Including compilation of multiple quotes (market testing) and analysis of results. Assists Purchasing Manager in the preparation of all required sourcing recommendations.

8. Processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders in a timely manner; expedites orders as necessary.

9. Assists in sourcing new suppliers for equipment, parts and/or services under the direction of the Purchasing Manager.

10. Work with accounting to ensure accuracy of invoices and assist with discrepancy resolutions.

11. Contribute to the cost savings goals

12. Assist in maintaining vendor information and files.

13. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949).

14. Follows all safety rules and procedures in the performance of this position’s duties and reports any unsafe practices to the supervisor.

15. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

· Student seeking AAS or BA /BS program in Supply Chain Management / Business or related field required.

· General knowledge of purchasing procedures and strategies

· Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

· Possess a positive “can-do” attitude.

· Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
