Compensation: $106,000.00 to $116,000.00

Tessera is seeking an individual who strives to deliver a quality product by overseeing successful completion of Vehicle Maintenance operations all while meeting the customer’s schedule. This position reports directly to the Site Manager and is the primary communications point between the Government COR staff and Tessera. The Assistant Manager performs initial planning on each mission to determine resources required.  Directly responsible for the overall shop operations, which includes production, quality, HAZMAT compliance, shop safety, and addressing personnel issues. Also, will be the Acting Site Manager in the absence of the Site Manager.

Core Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of AbilityOne and SourceAmerica programs.

  • Uphold and embody Tessera's core values.

  • Align team goals with Tessera's value proposition, ensuring highly engaged employees contribute to customer satisfaction.

  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards on job sites through effective risk controls and utilize Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA).

  • Conduct root cause analyses to promote a safe working environment and maintain adherence to Tessera's Accident Reporting process.

  • Foster positive client interactions using effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating respect, empathy, and responsiveness.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze and monitor production operations by utilizing Maximo and other reporting tools to generate daily, weekly, quality, labor, and performance metrics; verify report accuracy and maintain database records.

  • Support the Site Manager in achieving profitability, efficiency, customer satisfaction, contractual requirements, and internal quality standards while upholding Tessera’s mission, core values, and commitment to employing individuals with disabilities.

  • Identify production, technical, and engineering issues affecting training vehicles and maintenance operations; develop preventive and corrective actions, maintenance policies, operational procedures, process flow documentation, and labor estimates that incorporate current automotive technologies.

  • Coordinate operational updates, process improvements, and maintenance requirements within Maximo; develop flowcharts, training materials, and communication tools to support managers and employees.

  • Ensure quality, timeliness, safety, and operational excellence by reviewing work-in-progress, conducting spot inspections, implementing corrective actions, maintaining housekeeping standards, and promoting safe working conditions.

  • Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and performance management for technicians and support staff, including onboarding, skills development, performance evaluations, employee recognition, disciplinary actions, and instruction on proper repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills by responding appropriately to safety and security issues, remaining effective under pressure, maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and performing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 8 years of Automotive Maintenance experience is required.

  • Automobile Technology Training and Gasoline/Diesel Automobile Technology Certification preferred.

  • ASE certification preferred.

  • Specialized Vehicle Fabrication experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of State Department/FASTC Operations, rules and regulation preferred.

  • Must be able to manage maintenance support operations of a high OPTEMPO environment

  • Proficiency with MS Office required.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and conflict resolution skills required.

  • Ability to pass Medium Risk Public Trust background investigation.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis. 

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, standing, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
