JOB TITLE: MATERIAL CONTROL SPECIALIST 

DEPARTMENT: SUPPLY CHAIN

REPORTS TO: MATERIAL CONTROL SUPERVISOR

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT



 

Job Summary:

The Material Control Specialist will be responsible for material accountability and traceability.


 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project/Program Managers and shop floor to ensure availability & traceability of hardware, electrical components, and metal stock. 
  • Set up, organize, and maintain inventory recording and control systems to ensure inventory accuracy and material traceability from receiving, through manufacturing operations, up to shipment of finished goods. 
  • Perform material kitting for projects.
  • Receiving and inspection of materials to include material certs and/or certificate of conformances.
  • Understand and enforce DFARS, FAR, and other contractual requirements.
  • Adhere to AS9100 requirements for the material control process and traceability documentation.
  • Follow proper procedures for SDS sheets.
  • Performs related work as assigned, especially as a back-up for coworkers in other purchasing and materials management roles. 
  • Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required.


Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher
  • 0-2 years relevant experience in an aerospace material control role with AS9100-compliant material control systems.
  • Flexibility to work with existing material control practices in a small but quickly growing company and provide input as the organization transitions into an MRP system.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with willingness to contribute to and lead process improvements. 
  • Working knowledge of material control practices and procedures.
  • Possess excellent personal organization and business skills. 
  • Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt in a quick pace environment.
  • Driver’s license required for movement of material between main facility and local warehouse.
  • Recurring FOD training and awareness, upon hire and annually.
  • Recurring counterfeit prevention training and awareness, upon hire and annually.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 



 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office. 
  • Experience with QuickBooks and MRP/ERP systems is a plus.


 

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
  • Perceiving differences in wire and indicator light colors
  • Operating hand and power tools
  • Lifting, carrying, and/or moving tools, equipment, and components weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Working in confined spaces and around aircraft
  • Ascending and descending ladders or stairs as required


The base hourly range for this position is $17.00 to $23.00. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education and training, job-related knowledge and skills, the scope and level of responsibility of the position, internal equity, and market/business considerations. The listed range is a general guideline and may vary based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and work location, where applicable.
