Memorial Community Hospital and Health System (MCH) is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cook to join our Dietary Services team. Under the direction of the Dietary Manager, the Cook prepares meals for regular and modified patient diets, staff meals, meals-to-go, and occasional catered events. This position supports a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment and plays an active role in the hospital’s overall mission.

What you’ll do:

  • Shift Details: This position offers a consistent daytime schedule (10:00a-6:30p), working five days per week. Weekend shifts are part of a shared rotation.
  • Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements
  • Support food service for patients, staff, and catered functions
  • Maintain clean and sanitized work areas and equipment
  • Follow department safety protocols and food safety regulations
  • Assist in maintaining standards for state inspections
  • Uphold attendance standards and department expectations
  • Contribute to performance improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Participate in required safety and training programs

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 3 months of food service experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and measure ingredients accurately
  • Ability to lift and transfer hot food items up to 50 lbs
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to read and comprehend menus, diet orders, and written instructions
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
  • Capable of calculating adjustments for special diets and food quantities
