Title: EDM Production Technician

 

Job Summary:

The EDM Production Technician programs, sets up, operates WEDM, hole drilling, EDM Sinker, EDM Wire machines while working on production projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None 

Duties/Responsibilities:

The EDM Production Technician carries out several essential functions.

  • Capable of following routers and following specific instructions required to complete production WEDM jobs.
  • Capable of multitasking to maximize throughput and get the most out of production equipment daily.
  • Assist with programming WEDM machines utilizing Esprit CAD-CAM Software.
  • Capable of setting up WEDM Equipment such as Agie Excellence, Agie Progresses, Agie 315, 350 Pro’s, CUT 2000X and Current & D20 EDM drills.
  • Capable of performing maintenance on equipment and documenting maintenance procedures performed.
  • Capable of tracking wire inventories and consumable spare parts and informing supervisors of supplies needed.
  • Keeping department clean and organized while practicing 5S.
  • Manufacturing close tolerance quality parts while meeting production demand.
  • Capable for self-Inspection for quality of all parts manufactured.
  • Continuously practices efficient techniques and creativity.
  • Ability to work with tool makers and engineers to develop EDM processes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Capable of operating basic tool room equipment such as Bridgeport Milling Machines, Surface Grinders, and Drill Presses a plus.
  • Ability to draw in CAD simple fixtures and patches required a plus.
  • Work closely with associates, sharing knowledge, teaching & training of apprentices and coworkers as needed.
  • Capable of working with machine tool support technicians to diagnose basic machine issues and problems.

 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to understand Insert Molding and Progressive Die Tooling in a job shop environment.
  • Understanding of machine G-Codes.
  • Ability to manage and overcome workflow constraints.
  • Ability in the area of basic computer skills (WIN NT & XP, MS Office Suite).
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Technical school experience preferred or 3-5 years’ experience in the operations of wire EDM equipment in a stamping and molding shop environment.
  • 2-3 years’ experience as an EDM Programmer or equivalent.

 

Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Prolonged periods of standing. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
