SUMMARY


Responsible for performing various Magnetic Particle Methods on component parts of various engines including GG3, GG4, GG8, PT8 and FT4 components in accordance with WGPW established methods and standard practices. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The position includes but is not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities. 


  • Employee will be required to provide MPI Level 2 certificate from an accredited testing facility with a passing grade of 80% or greater.
  • Use and understanding of Mpi Spops as they relate to aviation or Aero derivative engines
  • Individuals will have the skills and knowledge to set up and calibrate equipment to conduct tests, interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Each NDT Technician is required to follow and comply with the SPOP description pertaining to the particular part being worked. All SPOP descriptions are located in the Pratt & Whitney Standard Practice Manual.
  • The employee shall be responsible for obtaining corrected lenses if needed.
  • Follow all of WGPW EH&S Standards will be used, Including PPE.
  • Report all labor accurately on your daily time sheet.
  • All employees shall follow the personnel guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Parts received in the department will be dealt with on a first-in first-out basis unless directed by supervision and/or the daily priority listing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to calculate figures such as ratios and percentages for the mixing of the various concentrations of emulsifiers.
  • Ability to accurately use manufacturer’s technical manuals, the Pratt and Whitney Standard Practices Manual, service bulletins, illustrated parts catalogs, and WGP&W documentation. 
  • Must be able to effectively and safely use manufacturer’s special tooling and lift and turn equipment.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • High School diploma or equivalent plus additional specialized training as anMPI level 2 as pertaining to ASNT-SNT-TC-1A or MIL-STD-410E and a minimum of 400 documented hours of Training.
  • MPI Level II certification is required.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and use hands to handle parts. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, crawl, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. 

Must have good eye site and be capable of obtaining a Jaeger 1 rating with natural or corrected eye site. 

Personnel will also demonstrate the ability to differentiate between colors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work with Florescent Penetrant, Development power and emulsifier. In addition, the use of PPE is mandatory when applicable.
