Title: Production Estimator
Job Summary:
The Production Estimator is responsible for product costing, re-costing, the development of price lists, and annual price adjustments. A proficiency with engineering routings, engineering drawings, concept sketches, applicable specifications, labor/set-up standards, material requirements, and outside vendor costs is required. The Production Estimator will create margin sheets with suggested prices that account for the annual increase guidance from management, and prior quote activity.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Experience with engineering drawings and an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
- Understanding of basic shop math to perform volume calculations.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (and costing thereof) for tooling, plastic injection molding, production machining or progressive die stamping.
- Basic use of CAD.
- Understanding of material manufacturing processes (and costing thereof): strip rolling, wire drawing, casting, and heat treating.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Basic understanding of inspection and measurement methods.
- Assist in developing new costing / pricing models.
- Establish a product costing template to support effective and accurate costing of product quotations.
- Understand all costs associated with refining of precious metals.
- Fully understand overhead and direct labor rates by department by location. Assist with modeling costs for new business opportunities.
- Understand pricing methodologies to maximize gross margin.
- Review BOM/Routers and work with NPI and finance to fix obvious errors.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with sales department to understand product requirements and manufacturing goals.
- Meets with manufacturing, quality, and production control personnel to address quoting issues as required.
- Ability to navigate Job Costing/Inventory Control System, ERP.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Use of Customer Quoting System software.
- Use of MRP system to gather data.
- Intermediate level user of Window based programs such as Excel and Word to create spreadsheets and memos as required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Experience & Education Requirements:
- Technical training and 5-7 years of manufacturing experience. Preferred manufacturing experience in materials manufacturing, plastic injection molding, progressive die stamping or machining.
- Production management, production planning, or estimating experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
