About the role

At Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom, we take pride in offering a competitive, hands-on internship experience that provides meaningful opportunities for professional growth and real-world impact. As an intern, you will become an integral member of our team, working alongside experienced educational professionals while partnering with a dedicated mentor. Interns are entrusted with meaningful projects and play a key role in developing engaging, agriculture-accurate educational resources for classrooms.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in agricultural literacy across Illinois. Your work will directly support hundreds of teachers as they deliver high-quality, real-world learning experiences and will help inspire and educate thousands of students throughout the state. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Create social media campaigns to use for upcoming school year.
- Write educational materials for a variety of -ag and education-related topics.
- Help coordinator summer teacher trainings, both virtual and in-person.
- Assist with lesson plan development and event planning.

Application Timeline:
We know waiting can be difficult, so we want to set expectations upfront. Our internship recruiting process takes place over several months. Applications open in mid-September and are reviewed as they are received. HR interviews are expected to begin in mid-October, followed by interviews with hiring leaders. Depending on the role and applicant volume, hiring decisions and offers may be made anytime from October through January. We appreciate your patience throughout the process and will communicate updates as they become available.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Pursuing a degree in agriculture, education, or a related field.
  • Must be able to work full-time hours from late May 2027 to early August 2027. The internship may be extended part-time through fall 2027 and spring 2028.
  • Graduation date of August 2027 or beyond.
  • Basic knowledge of agriculture industry is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the education system in preferred.
  • Basic graphic design skills.
  • Ability to write effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences.
