SkyWater is establishing the Data Intelligence Group (DIG), a newly consolidated organization bringing together Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, Integration, and Data functions under a single, unified team. The Director, DIG will be the group's first leader — responsible for building the team, establishing operating standards, and delivering enterprise data and analytics capability that supports manufacturing operations, compliance, and business decision-making across SkyWater's facilities.
This is a highly visible, foundational role reporting to the VP of IT. The Director will help define how SkyWater manages and leverages data as a strategic asset, working closely with IT, OT, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team spanning Business Intelligence, AI/ML, systems integration, and data management/data engineering.
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for enterprise data architecture, analytics, and integration platforms.
- Establish data governance standards, ensuring data quality, consistency, and appropriate controls across source systems.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and business leaders to translate operational and business needs into data and analytics solutions.
- Oversee integration architecture connecting ERP, MES, and other enterprise systems, ensuring reliable, scalable data flow across the organization.
- Evaluate and guide adoption of AI/ML capabilities that deliver measurable business and manufacturing value.
- Ensure data practices align with applicable compliance requirements, including those relevant to SkyWater's DoD Trusted Foundry status (e.g., CMMC-related data handling and security controls).
- Manage vendor relationships, platform selection, and budget for the group's tools and technologies.
- Develop and mentor team members; build a scalable organizational structure as the group matures.
- Represent the Data Intelligence Group in cross-functional planning and, over time, help shape the working relationship with counterparts at IonQ, including an eventual reporting relationship into IonQ's Chief Data Officer as that function is established.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, BI, or integration roles, including at least 3 years in a formal leadership/people management capacity.
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling a data/analytics function, ideally in a manufacturing, industrial, or technology environment.
- Strong knowledge of BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar), data warehousing/data lake architecture, and modern integration tools/patterns (ETL/ELT, APIs, middleware).
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and practical experience guiding AI-driven initiatives (not necessarily hands-on data science).
- Experience with ERP and enterprise systems integration (SAP, Oracle, or similar) a plus.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills; ability to translate technical concepts for executive and operational audiences.
- Experience operating in a regulated, compliance-sensitive, or defense-adjacent industry a strong plus (CMMC, ITAR, or similar frameworks).
- Experience working through M&A integration or multi-entity technology environments a plus.
Preferred Attributes
- Comfortable building a team and function from the ground up, with a bias toward pragmatic delivery over theoretical perfection.
- Strong communicator who can operate effectively amid organizational change and ambiguity.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area.
