THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT

The role of the CLA 1 is to provide operational support for the Health Sciences, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, and simulation laboratories. Principal responsibilities include scheduling of lab spaces, setting up and taking down of lab experiences, equipment cleaning and maintenance, organizing and maintaining inventory, laundry, ordering of supplies, supervising student employees, assisting students, and monitoring student activity. No student instruction or assessment will be provided by the CLA 1.

This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

  • Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure as a registered nurse, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant OR 6 months of teaching/tutoring experience nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant, at the high school level or above OR 2 years of work experience in nursing, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or health care simulation lab assistant, where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required experience OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities that we will be interviewing for:

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.

  • Administrative skills sufficient for record keeping and organization of the lab

Preferred:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in a Health Science Discipline

  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventorying, and lab and stockroom experience

  • Knowledge of medical equipment and supplies and common nursing procedures

  • Experience with simulation related technology

  • Ability to organize time and prioritize tasks, to follow up, and follow-through on tasks and projects

  • Experience working with Microsoft office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Strong verbal and written communication
