In addition, this position coordinates all-property activities in Bloomington-Normal to promote the hotel and conference center. The Sales and Catering Manager will also maximize hotel profitability and customer satisfaction through identifying, developing, and maintaining hotel and conference center sales. This person will also develop and maintain marketing plans and programs with the goal of maximizing hotel, food, beverage, meeting room and equipment rental for Eastland Suites Hotel & Conference Center. The Sales and Catering manager will strive to increase corporate, association, government, social, fraternal, sports client base, etc. for the conference center and hotel through consistent solicitation while developing and establishing relationships with prospects/clients to generate and boost revenues for the hotel. This person will work closely with the Director of Sales, Catering, and GM to provide outstanding service for all guests of the Eastland Suites Hotel and Conference Center. Essential Functions: Calls on prospects to solicit business, analyzes requirements of function, outline available hotel facilities and services offered, and quotes prices in a timely manner. Contacts representatives of Businesses, student groups, associations, sporting groups, and social groups to solicit business for hotel and conference center. Reviews prospective client information on sales meetings, conventions, training classes, overnight travel, and other functions held by organization members to select prospective customers for hotel services. Conduct promotion of the property through community involvement and property tours. Administrative duties such as writing and sending contracts, monitoring group room block release dates and rebooking clients. Provide total guest satisfaction for all local and group related functions by ensuring a consistent product that meets standards while maximizing profitability and protecting the integrity of the guest experience. Achieve departmental and individual budgeted revenues for banquet and catering, food, beverage, meeting room rental and overnight room sales. Exceed Hotel and Food and Beverage Sales Goals, including site inspections, trace calls, outside calls, promotion & entertainment. Sales Efforts- 15 Trace Calls per week 10 Outside Calls per week P&E – 1 per week Site Inspections – 1 per week Assist Director with marketing plan and social media content. Provide exceptional client service and serve as main hotel contact for assigned events and groups. Evening and Weekend availability for large social events, receptions and networking events is necessary Team player mentality Supporting Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions: Report all maintenance problems to appropriate personnel Inspect banquet rooms, guest rooms and public areas for cleanliness Conduct department meetings as required, and attends staff and hotel meetings Assist other leadership team members and/or managers when needed Other duties as required to provide genuine hospitality Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Strong knowledge of food and beverage sales and operations Skilled in the use of techniques and strategies required to deliver training material in group and one-on-one settings Demonstrate the ability to relate to, communicate with, and motivate employees to sustain high performance and quality levels Demonstrate the ability to proactively prioritize needs, prioritize important goals and effectively manage resources and time Ability to fully follow client and supervisor’s directions Ability to read, speak and write English sufficient to understand menus and special promotions, communicate with guests in a professional manner, assist guests with special requests and orders Qualification Standards Communication: Strong communication skills; including the ability to deal effectively with vastly diverse groups of people and guests. Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High School education preferred. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, catering / sales software. Experience: One to five years previous sales and catering experience preferably in hotels. Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance including hair color.
