Overview

Diversified Treatment Alternative Centers (DTAC) is seeking compassionate and motivated Mental Health Counselor / Program Staff to support children and adolescents in a structured, trauma-informed environment.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Counselor provides direct therapeutic support through individual and group interactions under clinical supervision. This role supports implementation of treatment plans, skill-building, and behavioral interventions while maintaining a safe and structured environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling under supervision
  • Assist with implementation of therapeutic programming and activities
  • Support youth in developing coping skills and emotional regulation
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members
  • Participate in weekly supervision and consultation sessions
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment updates, reports)
  • Assist with treatment planning and program implementation
  • Support communication with families when appropriate


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children or adolescents in behavioral health
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Additional Requirement:

  • Must obtain certification in the treatment of sexually aggressive youth within one year of hire (training begins after probationary period)

Preferred:

  • Experience working with trauma-impacted youth
  • Experience in residential or structured treatment settings
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills


Requirements

  • Ability to work assigned schedule (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Ability to obtain required PA clearances
  • Ability to reliably commute to Bloomsburg, PA
