The Regulatory & Utility Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning of Holtec's nuclear operations. This position is responsible for financial reporting, capital asset accounting, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and analysis within a highly regulated environment. Working closely with plant and corporate stakeholders, the Regulatory & Utility Accountant helps ensure accurate financial records, supports major capital investments, and provides insights that enable informed business decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with a solid understanding of regulated industries, complex financial reporting requirements, and capital asset management.

 

Location: Camden, NJ (Onsite Waterfront Campus)

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Regulatory Accounting & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable accounting policies, regulatory standards, and internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure financial documentation is audit-ready.

Financial Reporting & Close Processes

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and review financial reports to support management reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the analysis and interpretation of financial results and key business metrics.

Capital Asset & Nuclear Fuel Accounting

  • Manage accounting activities related to nuclear fuel procurement, processing, and associated costs.
  • Record and monitor fixed asset additions, transfers, retirements, depreciation, and asset reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate capital asset records and support asset lifecycle management activities.

Capital Planning & Financial Analysis

  • Support annual budgeting and long-range financial planning processes.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of capital project budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct financial analysis, capital project tracking, depreciation analysis, and post-project audits.
  • Analyze operational and capital expenditures and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Business Partnership & Operational Support

  • Serve as a key liaison between nuclear plant sites and corporate accounting teams.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, project management, and finance stakeholders to support business objectives.
  • Provide financial guidance and insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree, CPA designation, or progress toward CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • Seven (7) or more years of accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis experience.
  • Experience in utility, energy, manufacturing, construction, engineering, or other regulated industries strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with FERC Uniform System of Accounts preferred.
  • Understanding of capital asset accounting, depreciation, budgeting, and financial controls.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from  $95,000 to  $120,000
