Principal Engineer I - United States (Remote)

We have an incredible opportunity for a Principal Engineer I to join ICON’s IT Digital Operations team. As a Principal Engineer I at ICON, you will manage client services activities, supporting your team and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes across our clinical programs.

What You Will Do:

Your focus will be on coordinating software development and engineering delivery, resolving issues, and developing team capability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • As a member of staff, the employee is expected to embrace and contribute to our culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
  • Consults with senior management regarding best course of action to meet business needs, goal and deadlines. Escalates issues to senior management to make informed decisions.
  • Ensure that proposed and existing systems/architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develops a vision for areas of responsibility and designs an executable strategy to reach the vision. Continually evaluates business needs and adjusts accordingly.
  • Perform as a project lead/owner for medium-large scale initiatives.
  • Manage enterprise services by supporting the unpinning infrastructure provided by those systems.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other functional areas within IT to ensure availability, reliability and scalability of corporate servers to meet business requirements

Your Profile:

You will have solid software development and engineering experience, with the ability to manage competing priorities and develop your team.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of system installations, upgrades, routine maintenance, and vendor-supplied patches
  • Proven experience in planning and coordinating large-scale system initiatives
  • Experience in providing off-hours support through a rotating on-call procedure
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align proposed and existing systems/architectures with organizational goals and objectives
  • Experience in performing as a project lead/owner for medium-large scale initiatives
