Telecommunications Subject Matter Expert – Lead – Bluemont, VA

Aleknagik Technology LLC is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Lead to provide senior-level technical and team leadership supporting secure and non-secure telecommunications, IT networks, and mission-critical communications systems for a federal government customer.

The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, expert-level proficiency in telecommunications and IT networking, and an active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)access.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as team lead and provide technical leadership for telecommunications and IT networking operations.
  • Support secure and non-secure telephone, facsimile, data, and communications systems.
  • Support government networks including OpenNet, ClassNet, SIPRNet, HSDN, JWICS, DCIN, and Internet environments.
  • Support wired, optical, and wireless networks and LANs.
  • Support Secure Video Teleconferencing Systems (SVTS) at multiple classification levels.
  • Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot audiovisual systems, CATV, public address, digital signage, video surveillance, and associated cabling.
  • Support HF ALE, UHF/VHF, UHF SATCOM, and DAMA radio communications systems.
  • Support secure satellite and cellular telephone systems.
  • Support GETS, Wireless Priority Service (WPS), and Telecommunications Service Priority (TSP) requirements.
  • Provide COMSEC key material and equipment support.
  • Provide facility security, emergency communications, and service desk support.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate system maintenance and corrective actions.
  • Manage multiple telecommunications projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Develop technical documentation, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and procedures.
  • Provide technical training and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Travel occasionally to remote locations throughout the United States as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant telecommunications, networking, or communications systems experience.
  • Expert-level technical knowledge of IT networking and telecommunications.
  • Experience supporting secure and non-secure communications systems and networks.
  • Experience with wired, optical, wireless, radio, satellite, and/or secure communications technologies.
  • Experience supporting classified government networks and systems.
  • Knowledge of COMSEC and communications security requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and training skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent telecommunications/networking certifications.
  • Experience supporting the Department of State, DoD, DHS, or another federal agency.
  • Experience with OpenNet, ClassNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, HSDN, or DCIN.
  • Experience with SVTS, HF ALE, UHF/VHF, SATCOM, and DAMA systems.
  • Experience with GETS, WPS, TSP, and COMSEC equipment.
  • Previous experience serving as a technical or telecommunications team lead.

Security Clearance

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance required.
  • Must be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain SCI access.

Work Environment

This position supports secure and non-secure federal telecommunications operations and requires interaction with government personnel, technical teams, and security professionals.  This positions is On-Site. Occasional travel to remote locations throughout the United States may be required.
