Job SummaryÂ
As a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO), you'll be responsible for setting up, overseeing and maintaining the packaging machines to ensure proper quality and packaging of the finished product. This includes housekeeping, assisting other PMO’s and Supervisors to run the department efficiently and effectively, and completing sanitation duties. Assist in troubleshooting, training, and basic maintenance tasks.Â

Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ

Ensure all bags are running correct weightsÂ
-
Ensure all bags are in registration, both in cutoff and side to side registrationÂ
-
Ensure all bags are code-dated properly with both price and date legible and in proper position on face of bagÂ
-
Ensure bags are sealed properly and that bag appearance is acceptableÂ
-
Add/remove air from bags and ensure proper air fillÂ
-
Change knife bladesÂ
-
Change bag speed in packaging machines and weighers and ensure running rates based on lead labelÂ
-
Keep machines clean and area under and around the machine clean and help sweep packing areaÂ
-
Weigh defected film, record defect and place film in defective area providedÂ
-
Keep infeeds, dispersion table, scales, etc, free from buildupÂ
-
Perform hourly metal detector checks as required. Report any metal detector findings, false activations, or other concerns to management immediately and help with investigationÂ
-
Ensure all paperwork is completed (film verifications, sanitation and 5S paperwork, etc.)Â

Complete all required trainings, including AlchemyÂ
-
Communicate with all team members, including bakers, leads, packers, PMO’s, QC, PC, maintenance, and supervisorsÂ

All other duties as assigned by SupervisorÂ

Minimum QualificationsÂ

High School diploma or GEDÂ

Ability to read, write and comprehend English Â

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and metric to SAE conversions – mm to inches, grams to ouncesÂ

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsÂ

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled formÂ

Have a clear understanding of how to safely operate packaging machineryÂ
