Company is based in Bluffton, SC. This is an in-person role in Bluffton, SC. This position offers a hybrid schedule after the first 60 days of two remote days per week. Occasional overtime work may be required as job duties demand during month-end, year-end & audit.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Spartina 449 is seeking a Senior Accountant that is an energetic and team-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. A quick learner who will be involved in all aspects of accounting and finance. An individual who enjoys paying attention to details and analyzing data.

This role will play a key part in improving accounting processes, systems, and reporting as the company continues to scale, including identifying root causes of discrepancies and supporting sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Assist in preparing month-end and annual financial reports
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of accounting transactions
  • Assist in performing various accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts receivable, account payable, treasury, journal entries, financial reporting, etc.
  • Prepare and manage account reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and audit inventory invoices – address variances in pricing with Purchasing Team
  • Review, evaluate, and assist in setting up new Wholesale credit terms accounts
  • Support financial audits including documentation retention, procedure requests, etc.
  • Monitor and document internal controls
  • Maintain documentation of all accounting processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures including GAAP
  • Monitor inventory and assist with any physical inventory or cycle counting
  • Own inventory accounting and reconciliations across all locations (3PL, retail, and in-transit)
  • Perform monthly inventory-to-general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare variance reports including, but not limited to, budget variance, costs variance, quantity variance
  • Fixed Asset management
  • Partner and support Director of Finance/Accounting on ad hoc projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet assigned deadlines
  • Effective and professional communication skills with the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
  • Experience in omnichannel environments (retail, wholesale, e-commerce)
  • Experience with multi-location inventory environments and/or 3PLs
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets

Supervisory Responsibility:

• No direct supervisory responsibility at this time

Physical Demands and/or Work Environment

  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some general office activities are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bending, standing, and walking as necessary.
  • At times, the job may require visiting Company warehouse and lifting boxes of inventory; weight limit of 25 lbs.
  • The job operates in an office environment on a hybrid schedule.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although minimal out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
