Sign Fabricator / Painter / Installer

Sign D' Sign is looking for a skilled, hands-on Sign Fabricator / Painter / Installer to join our production team in Bluffton, SC.

This is a hybrid skilled-trades position for someone who enjoys building things, takes pride in a high-quality finished product, and doesn't want to spend every day doing exactly the same thing.

One day you may be assembling a custom sign in our shop, the next you're applying a professional painted finish, and another you're in the field helping install the finished project.

We're looking for someone with a solid mechanical and fabrication skill base who can work independently, solve problems and take pride in craftsmanship.

• Fabricate and assemble a variety of custom commercial signs
• Prepare sign components and substrates for finishing
• Prime, paint and finish routed and fabricated sign components
• Perform high-quality spray finishing using HVLP paint equipment
• Mix, prepare and apply coatings according to established procedures
• Sand, mask, prep and finish materials to professional standards
• Work with materials including HDU, aluminum, acrylic, PVC and other common sign substrates
• Use hand tools, power tools and shop equipment safely and accurately
• Read drawings, measurements and production specifications
• Assist with and perform installation of signs at customer locations
• Load, transport and properly secure signs, tools and materials
• Work from ladders and lifts when required
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools and equipment
• Inspect your work and help ensure that completed signs meet Sign D' Sign's quality standards

We're looking for someone who already has a strong hands-on skill base.

Qualified candidates should have:

• Previous experience in fabrication, sign making, painting, construction, cabinetry, automotive refinishing, millwork or a similar skilled trade
• Experience using HVLP spray equipment
• Strong understanding of surface preparation and professional paint finishing
• Mechanical aptitude and confidence working with hand and power tools
• Ability to accurately measure, lay out, assemble and install finished products
• Strong attention to detail
• Pride in workmanship and finished appearance
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in both shop and field environments
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to safely perform physical work, including lifting and working from ladders or lifts
• Valid driver's license
• Good driving record
• Ability to successfully complete a background check

Sign industry experience is preferred, but we are also interested in experienced craftspeople from related industries who have the right skill set and are willing to learn the sign business.

We're not a production line making the same product every day.

Our team builds custom signage for businesses and organizations throughout the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire. You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and see the products you helped build installed throughout the community.

$24.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill level.

Experienced candidates with a strong combination of fabrication, HVLP painting and sign installation skills are encouraged to apply.

This position is based at our Bluffton production facility and includes both shop work and field installation.
