Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Alumni Networks in Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Director, Alumni Networks, will manage alumni network engagement and growth initiatives within the Alumni and Community Engagement team and support other key strategic priorities for the department.

Building a culture of philanthropy and dedication across all current and future alumni network communities is a large emphasis of this role. Additionally, identifying new and maximizing current network initiatives, both internally and externally, to enhance the experience of volunteer leaders and network members. This position includes other duties as assigned to support the University, Division, Alumni, and Community Engagement as a whole.

This role is pivotal for the continued growth and engagement of the Florida Atlantic community. The ideal candidate should be passionate about fostering relationships, driving volunteer success, and ensuring continued development and sustainability across all current and future networks.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Alumni Networks:

  • Assist in the leadership, support, training, and stewardship of all Florida Atlantic University Alumni network operations and initiatives for all current and future alumni networks (including affinity, geographic, and professional networks).

  • Recruit, train, and manage over 100 local and regional/out-of-state volunteers for network leadership positions.

  • Align volunteer efforts with Alumni and Community Engagement’s strategic planning goals for engagement with key groups, including young alumni and geographic, affinity, and professional affiliation groups.

  • Administer standard operating procedures for Florida Atlantic University Alumni networks, including budgets, sponsorships, community partnerships, brand representation/guidelines, social media, and volunteer roles and responsibilities.

  • Identify FAU Alumni network opportunities in collaboration with team members based on geographic location, affinity, and professional affiliations.

  • Research and identify target populations and work with key alumni and/or community partners to maximize engagement in those areas.

  • Support all FAU Alumni network events and activities in coordination with leadership volunteers and team members across Florida Atlantic and internal to the department.

  • Travel to location-based FAU Alumni network events to engage with volunteer leaders and build relationships across Florida and other states.

  • Through alumni networks, identify notable alumni, implement board priorities and liaison involvement, and maximize the department’s network strategy.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Develop and implement marketing plans to acquire and sustain the FAU Alumni network engagement.

  • Manage FAU Alumni network communication initiatives in collaboration with leadership, volunteers, and staff.

  • Draft and review a large volume of invitations/communications and other promotional materials in support of FAU Alumni network events and initiatives.

  • Maintain the FAU Alumni network leaders resource guide, website, and any other areas to ensure all information is up to date and effectively communicated and followed by volunteer leaders and members.

  • Implement strategies to support further promotion and growth of memberships through alumni network programming.

  • Utilize platforms like Canva to generate network-based content.

Sponsorships

  • Identify community partners for sponsorship/trade partnership opportunities to assist with offsetting network costs and building community relationships to support FAU Alumni events and initiatives.

  • Support the development and organization of sponsorship opportunities, presentations, and agreements.

Alumni and Student Programming

  • Support the planning and execution of numerous alumni programs such as signature events, recurring events, and athletics events, including tailgates, watch parties, and more.

  • Collaborate with university partners to cultivate and identify notable alumni for engagement opportunities and award nominations.

  • Assist with the cultivation, tracking, and spotlighting of alumni-owned and operated businesses.

  • Through Alumni Scholarships, support the planning, promotion, and operation of scholarship recipient events and programs aimed to deepen and sustain recipients’ engagement with the alumni department.

  • Develop content and communications plans to spotlight the Alumni Scholarships program.

Data, Technology, and Finances:

  • Ensure data integrity through weekly and monthly tracking and reporting of the FAU Alumni network initiatives in coordination with advancement services.

  • Use data-informed strategies to drive decisions and allocate resources for the greatest possible impact.

  • Maintain all volunteer and member data to ensure information is up to date.

  • Track the network's budget and finances, such as expenses related to FAU Alumni network initiatives and purchases.

  • Administer platforms like RENXT/Classic, Blackbaud, Hivebrite Alumni Portal, and Active Campaign.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Travel to visit with prospects, meet with volunteers, and facilitate events.

  • Collaborate with and support a variety of partners on and off campus.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.

Salary:
