We are seeking experienced Outpatient Medical Coders to support a short-term coding project focused on Emergency Department (ED) and Ancillary Services, including Laboratory and Radiology accounts. This assignment is expected to last 30 to 60 days and offers flexible scheduling options for qualified candidates seeking either full-time (40 hrs) or part-time (20 hrs).

The ideal candidate will have strong outpatient coding experience, a thorough understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines, and demonstrated experience working within Cerner and 3M 360 Encompass systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters.
  • Code Emergency Department (ED) accounts in accordance with official coding guidelines and facility-specific requirements.
  • Code ancillary outpatient services including Laboratory and Radiology accounts.
  • Ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Meet established productivity and quality standards.
  • Identify documentation deficiencies and escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with coding leadership and quality teams to resolve coding questions and edits.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of outpatient facility coding experience.
  • Significant experience coding Emergency Department (ED) accounts.
  • Experience coding Ancillary Services, including:
    • Laboratory
    • Radiology/Imaging
  • Proficient knowledge of:
    • ICD-10-CM
    • CPT
    • HCPCS Level II
    • Official Coding Guidelines
    • CMS regulations
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Cerner
    • 3M 360 Encompass
  • Strong attention to detail and coding accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
