Summary of Role:
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to play a key role in driving accurate inventory valuation, cost transparency, and financial insight across our manufacturing operations. This position partners closely with Finance and Operations to support month-end close, improve cost efficiency, and provide actionable analysis that informs business decisions.

 

Responsibilities:
Inventory & Month-End Close
•    Lead inventory accounting activities, including reconciliations, roll-forwards, and subledger-to-general ledger tie-outs
•    Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory balances and transactions
•    Support month-end close processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold
Cost Accounting & Analysis
•    Analyze standard costs, including labor and overhead, and investigate variances
•    Prepare and review Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reporting and reconciliations
•    Track and analyze costs at the lot and product level to support margin visibility
•    Maintain cost structures and validate data through Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Reporting & Controls
•    Prepare monthly inventory reserve analyses and cost reporting packages
•    Maintain inventory schedules and supporting documentation
•    Support cycle counts, physical inventory, and audit requirements
•    Ensure accurate integration between ERP systems and the General Ledger
Operations Partnership
•    Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to analyze expenses and recommend cost reclassifications
•    Review P&L expenses and provide insights to improve cost control and efficiency
•    Identify opportunities to enhance processes, reporting, and cost accuracy

 

 Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
•    5+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
•    Strong understanding of inventory accounting and standard costing methodologies
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and data analysis
•    Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite and/or BatchMaster preferred)
•    Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
•    Effective communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
