Work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product. Team assemblers can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all or most of them rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis. May participate in making management decisions affecting the work. Includes team leaders who work as part of the team. 

 

Job Summary: APS team members are responsible for assembling APS Group products for PedSafety. This role involves final assembly, hand soldering, programming, and packaging. It requires close attention to detail, precision in hand soldering wires, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with the PedSafety Handbook, Bambee Policies, and work rules.
  • Assemble all APS Group subassemblies and products according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete proper training before operating any product, tool, or machine.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of small hand tools and understanding of manufacturing production processes.
  • Verify that equipment and tooling calibrations and preventive maintenance (PMs) are up to date.
  • Follow cleanliness and 5S practices to maintain an efficient work environment.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to process flow, reducing wasted effort and time.
  • Perform and document quality checks as directed by management.
  • Inspect and perform in-process quality checks with attention to detail.
  • Utilize computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

APS-Specific:

  • Record daily performance using TAKT charts.
  • Organize and maintain stock shelves within the APS Assembly area.
  • Conduct basic programming, flashing, and burn-in processes for APS Group products.
  • Troubleshoot and test APS Group products to ensure proper operation.
  • Package all APS Group products appropriately.
  • Demonstrate IPC proficiency in soldering device assemblies and wire-to-wire connections.
  • Operate test equipment to verify the proper functioning of electronic equipment.
  • Learn and utilize web-based and product utility computer-based applications.
  • Perform systematic troubleshooting processes with a methodical approach.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in powder coating is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours during shifts.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per day.
  • Flexibility to bend, twist, push, and pull weights of up to 50 pounds.
  • Adherence to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, safety locks, and wearing safety glasses as required.

 

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, and noise.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
