The Clinical Field Trainer assists the Clinical Manager by facilitating new hire clinical orientation after New Employee Orientation (NEO) primarily while on flight shift. Main duties include: facilitating clinician development according to the Clinical Onboarding Rubric and Field Guide; completion of a Base Knowledge Day of approximately 2-4 hours with the clinician prior to or during a first operational third rider shift; Benchmark II testing of the new hire clinician at 4-10 weeks from hire date, and review of at least 50% of new hire clinician patient care records for accuracy according to LFN Patient Care Guidelines and Policy 201.04. Additional training for the new hire clinician may be requested by the CM as needed.

Only applicants for their current home base will be considered. Float employees can apply for positions in their pre-determined float area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Services or a related field strongly preferred. May substitute direct years of experience in similar position for educational experience.
  • Minimum one-year flight or transport experience and in good standing, required
  • Meets and constantly maintains all qualifications of LFN Flight Nurse, Flight or Ground Paramedic, Flight Respiratory Therapist
  • Current RN/RT licensure or Paramedic certification required, per the Flight Nurse or Flight/Ground Medic job description
  • Demonstrated passion, commitment, and ability to safely promote LFN’s mission and values
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, customers and the community is required
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, have access to an automobile in good repair, be able to provide proof of auto insurance, meet LFN’s Driver’s Policy requirements and able to travel whenever or wherever business needs necessitate

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community
  • Demonstrates passion, commitment, and ability to safely promote LFN’s mission and values
  • Fosters clinician development according to the Clinical Onboarding Rubric and Field Guide
  • Responsible for meeting with new clinicians for Base Knowledge Day for approximately 2-4 hours prior to or during a first operational third rider shift.
  • Benchmark II testing of the new hire clinician at 4-10 weeks from hire date, and review of at least 50% of new hire clinician patient care records for accuracy according to LFN Patient Care Guidelines and Policy 201.04
  • Additional training for the new hire clinician may be requested by the CM as needed
  • Must model professional behavior at all times
  • Must be a superior provider of customer service, both internally and externally, while also remaining an excellent clinician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review all LFN patient transport records within area of responsibility to ensure they adhere to the highest clinical standards LFN expects
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is required
  • Complete other duties and tasks as assigned

SAFETY:

  • Ensure adherence to LFN safety and risk management culture as outlined in Safety and Risk Management Agreement, SMS, and related policies
  • Preserve safety and risk management culture and rules
  • Report all concerns related to safety and risk management immediately, working with Director of Safety and Risk Management, Director of Quality Management and others as needed
  • Be knowledgeable regarding all safety and risk management policies and procedures; be an agent for communicating safety and risk management information
