PCB Designer

Description

Elan Industries is seeking a Senior PCB Designer with Altium experience to join our Design team in Bolingbrook IL  In this role here at Elan you will be collaborating closely with the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering team in a fast paced environment focused primarily on custom embedded controls for commercial and high end residential market.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Designing of printed circuit boards (PCB). See qualifications below.

· Entering/ Building schematics from high level designs and reference designs using existing parts libraries where ever possible. 

· Provide Librarian services creating and managing all component symbols and decals for Elans library environment. 

· Organize many existing designs into ‘reference design block’ elements to maximize re-use and optimize development efficiency.

· Optimizing layout for UL, IEC and EMI spacings requirements. 

· Designing with consideration for thermal heat sinking of hot components. 

· Optimizing design of sensitive Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) circuit layouts. 

· Calculating impedances and stack-ups as required for USB, WiFi, Bluetooth sensitive layouts.

· Optimize test pad design/layout for ICT and Functional test.

· Thoughtful DFM, with attention to mfg keepaways, spacings, polarities, pokyoke design etc.

· Maintain and grow Elans PCB Design Guidelines/ Best Practices policy and document.

Qualifications

· 5+ years of hands on PCB Design experience is required

· Some years of experience with Altium is required

· Hands on experience designing Switch Mode Power Supplies is required.

· Librarian experience creating and managing parts is required

· Hands on experience with Impedance calculations, Stack-up design as required for USB, WiFi, Bluetooth circuits.

· Familiarity with databases and MRP systems like MiSys is a plus.

· Associates’ Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineer is preferred but not required.

· US Citizen or Permanent Resident card. Elan will not host a J1 work Visa.
