Job Summary

Furqaan Academy is seeking an experienced, visionary, and faith-driven Principal to lead our PK–12 Islamic school. The Principal serves as the chief instructional and administrative leader, responsible for fostering academic excellence, maintaining a safe and nurturing Islamic learning environment, and ensuring the successful implementation of the school's mission, vision, and strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of school administrative experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience serving as a Dean or in a comparable school leadership position.
  • Strong instructional leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, school improvement planning, and educational best practices.
  • Ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history and fingerprint background check.
  • Experience in an Islamic school environment is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide visionary leadership aligned with the mission and values of Furqaan Academy.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor school policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards, ISBE recognition requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Lead the annual School Improvement Planning process and monitor progress toward established goals.

Academic Leadership

  • Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote high-quality instruction and student achievement through classroom observations, coaching, and staff support.
  • Monitor student performance data and implement strategies to improve academic outcomes.
  • Encourage innovation and the effective integration of technology into classroom instruction.

Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff.
  • Conduct formal staff evaluations and provide ongoing professional coaching.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable work environment.
  • Coordinate and support professional development opportunities for all employees.

Student Affairs

  • Oversee student discipline, attendance, and behavioral support systems.
  • Promote student leadership, character development, and Islamic values throughout the school community. Maintain a safe, respectful, and achievement-oriented school culture.

Parent Relations & Operations

  • Establish and maintain strong communication with parents, students, faculty, and community stakeholders.
  • Oversee school communications, including newsletters, the school website, and social media platforms.
  • Oversee annual ordering of textbooks, planners, instructional materials, and school supplies.
  • Supervise the planning and execution of school events including Open House, Graduation, Science Fair, Award Ceremonies, Islamic programs, and field trips.
  • Ensure efficient daily school operations and proper use of school resources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Board of Directors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in private, charter, or Islamic school leadership.
  • Familiarity with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requirements.
  • Bilingual in English and Arabic or Urdu is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to Islamic values, educational excellence, and servant leadership.
