Quality Control (QC) 

Position Summary

The Quality Control (QC) Analyst is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, reducing defects and unpick rates, and supporting operational efficiency across production departments. This role evaluates product issues, maintains and applies established quality standards, analyzes quality data, and partners cross-functionally to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.

 

The QC Analyst plays a critical role in protecting the customer experience, reducing costs associated with defects and rework, and improving overall production performance.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Evaluation & Product Approval

  • Evaluate product defects using the unpick coding system and accurately document findings within PMALL systems
  • Perform visual inspections, measurements, and product validation to ensure established quality standards are met
  • Approve in-process and finished products based on required specifications and quality expectations
  • Determine whether product defects can be corrected or whether rework or rejection is required
  • Identify defective products and return items for rework when necessary
  • Assess vendor defects and reject materials that do not meet established quality standards
  • Ensure products meet PMALL quality expectations before advancing through the production process

Quality Data & Unpick Management

  • Maintain and update unpick codes and create new codes as needed
  • Analyze defect and unpick data to identify trends and recurring quality concerns
  • Use quality data to support cost reduction, defect prevention, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Develop reports using supporting data, images, observations, and analysis
  • Identify opportunities to reduce unpick rates and prevent defects before they occur

Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate quality issues to determine root causes and recommend sustainable solutions
  • Partner with production teams to reduce errors, rework, and recurring defects
  • Identify process breakdowns and opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and consistency
  • Provide recommendations based on data, inspections, and real-time production observations
  • Cross-train and support departments on quality expectations and defect prevention
  • Address both immediate quality concerns and larger recurring issues proactively

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Production, QA, Auto Production, Product Development, Merchandising, Operations, Customer Service, and other teams to address quality concerns
  • Communicate quality issues clearly and collaborate with appropriate teams to drive resolution
  • Provide guidance to QA, Production, and Customer Service teams regarding product quality and standards
  • Communicate with team leads regarding daily quality and operational issues
  • Support merchandising inspections and required documentation

Customer Service & Order Support

  • Review and validate remake orders submitted by Customer Service
  • Monitor orders placed on review hold and release them when quality requirements have been satisfied
  • Cancel or modify order items as needed
  • Assist with resolving product quality concerns that may impact the customer experience

Corporate & Product Launch Support

  • Review corporate samples with Operations Assistants prior to product launch
  • Provide recommendations to improve product accuracy and prevent potential production issues
  • Approve quantities for live orders in alignment with established operational and quality standards

Daily Operations & Team Support

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Quality Control (Unpick) Desk
  • Manage workflow, priorities, and schedules to support daily quality needs
  • Train and support team members as needed
  • Escalate and assist in resolving quality, production, or file-related issues
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment while following established safety standards
  • Perform additional quality and operational duties as needed

Key Objective

The primary objective of the QC Analyst is to minimize unpicks, prevent recurring defects, reduce quality-related costs and inefficiencies, and ensure consistent product quality while supporting a collaborative and high-performing production environment.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple quality issues simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and levels of the organization
  • Ability to make sound quality decisions when products do not fully meet established standards
  • Comfortable working with data, reports, and quality tracking systems
  • Experience in production, quality control, manufacturing, or a related environment preferred
  • Familiarity with production systems and data tracking tools preferred
  • Ability to train and provide guidance to team members

 

The expected hourly pay range for this position is $17.50 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and other factors permitted by law.
