Responsibilities and Duties:

Field Personnel

  • Review manpower schedule on a weekly basis to determine the number of field personnel needed to complete scheduled work.
  • Review applications, check references, conduct interviews, and hire new painters as needed.
  • Track field employees' progress, update field/foremen levels, and conduct employee reviews as needed or when due.
  • Identify and develop leaders from within the workforce, providing training and direction. Promote strong teamwork and build a positive team culture.
  • Oversee all required training of field employees, including proper paperwork, safety, etc.
  • Supervise all field personnel and verify that company policies are followed (e.g., advances, per diem, starting times, production, project organization, safety, field paperwork, etc.).
  • Manage all safety functions; perform or direct all safety testing for all field employees.

Project Coordination

  • Participate in job set-up, including scheduling and building production reports.
  • Attend job start-up meetings and briefings with Estimator, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Foreman, etc. for each project.
  • Conduct a site visit with the foreman and estimator prior to, or at project start, based on the location and size of the project.
  • Identify supplies and equipment needed for project start-up and throughout the duration of the job; deliver equipment, supplies, and material to job sites as needed.
  • Conduct weekly site visits, setting the attitude and pace for productive project completion; promote safety, organization, and follow-through. Attend job site weekly progress meetings as needed.
  • Handle daily management and troubleshooting on projects, including all necessary paperwork.

Miscellaneous

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and post weekly manpower schedule by 4p each Thursday.
  • Complete all per diem and special pay agreements prior to the activation date and all field payroll change notices in a timely manner.
  • Manage customer relations and address client concerns appropriately.
  • Assist with production painting as needed.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of superintendent / supervisory experience
  • Proven commercial, industrial, and/or retail painting experience
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to painting and construction activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively and exhibit strong leadership
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Able to read drawings / blueprints
