What's the role?

As an OSP Technician you will be responsible for performing specialized technical duties in the repair, maintenance, and installation of Liberty’s fiber optic network.

How can you add value?

  • Install RF components and grounding arrestors on towers. and perform sweep tests and PIM tests on antennas.
  • Manage cables such as Coax Fiber and Cat5e from tower bunkers to sectors and route main power to top tower and set up all sectors and antennas to tower.
  • Cover all aspects of cell tower construction, antenna and line installation, QA inspections, and GPS installation.
  • Complete basic to complex installation of & troubleshoot/repair Ethernet or Fiber based internet in a residential and commercial environment (small to medium businesses) from the tap to the connection of CPE; including but not confined to, all necessary wiring of both interior & exterior associated equipment in the forward & return signal path of the customer premise network.
  • Respond to equipment failures on the network, troubleshoot & repair equipment while providing the customer with productive communications regarding the repair process.
  • Adheres to OSHA and NATE customer and industry wireless standards and quality.
  • Perform ground construction activities such as digging trenches, grounding, cad welding, terminations, fastening, accurate bolting and antioxidant use.
  • Distribute, pick-up and organize tools and materials and operate construction equipment, such as electric/hydraulic winches and capstans.
  • Perform all work in a timely and efficient manner while always observing safety and quality guidelines and expectations.
  • Maintain and track all company assets including trucks, trailers, test equipment, tools, PPE, safety kits and materials.
  • Prepare documentation for fiber splicing, cores, enclosures, and optical cable transmission layouts as per the FCC standard methodologies.
  • Available to assist in system outages on a 24/7 schedule.
  • Demonstrates and ensures compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty Latin America's policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures.
  • Other functions may be assigned.

What do you need?

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology preferred along with a minimum of 3 years of working RAN & fiber network related experience.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid tower climbing/rescue and safety certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team oriented, high demand and dynamic environment.
  • Solid written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic equipment.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Codes, FCC regulations and telecommunications transportation.
  • Domain in electrical and electronics.
  • Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities and confirmed ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects at a time.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
