Position Summary 

Materials Management Coordinators support our customers project teams throughout the planning, procurement, manufacturing, delivery, and material-readiness phases of transmission, substation, distribution, and communications projects. This can be a Hybrid position in the Central NY area (Syracuse NY- Utica NY vicinity) with occasional onsite office visits as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Track electrical equipment and material order delivery dates by reviewing Supply Chain documentation, reports, and purchase orders.
  • Serve as main point of contact with vendors and materials suppliers.
  • Coordinate material readiness to site construction teams.
  • Support upwards of 8 separate project managers with projects ranging in size from $250k to $20M. 
  • Review Bills of Materials (BOM) and compare them to Purchase Orders to verify accuracy.
  • Verify and provide status updates of quotes and orders to project managers.
  • Produce and delivery reports to assist Project Managers in material readiness meetings.
  • Occasional travel to visit vendor facilities to verify production readiness.
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Expedite material deliveries in accordance with construction scheduled requirements
  • Communicate with project teams on the status of all materials within the project shell

  • Knowledgeable Transmission Line, Substation, and Communications material and equipment.
  • Strong excel and ERP skills.


Education and Experience

Required education and experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years’ experience in project management support
  • 1-2 years’ experience in direct customer-facing and materials management role.
  • Experience managing vendor communications, tracking supplier commitments, and resolving material delivery issues.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excell
  • Experience with ERP inventory management systems 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, Sharepoint, Vizio)

 

Preferred education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or in a directly related discipline 
  • 1-2 years’ experience with an electrical materials supplier and electrical subcontractor.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with Transmission and Distribution engineering teams, project managers, and EPC procurement
