Job Description

Position: Registered Nurse Operating RoomĀ Ā 

Location: BMC-Brighton, MA

Schedule: Day Shifts, Call Required

The Operating rooms cater to our busy inpatient and emergent surgical needs across dozens of surgical specialties. Recent OR expansions mean the most updated and advanced surgical equipment including a dedicated hybrid room, Da Vinci Robotics room, and renovated team spaces.  The ORoffers a fast-passed, high-skill, collaborative work environment where you will work in all surgical service specialties with highly trained teammates.

POSITION SUMMARY:Ā 
As an RN, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.Ā 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Ā 

  • Deliver nursing care in the Perioperative Services unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patientsĀ 

  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their familiesĀ 

  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleaguesĀ 

  • Update and manage patient recordsĀ 

  • Enter and interpret computerized data/informationĀ 

  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organizationĀ 

  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projectsĀ

Ā JOB REQUIREMENTS:Ā

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Ā 

  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 yearsĀ 

Ā  Ā 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Ā 

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.Ā 

  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)Ā 

  • CNRO certification (preferred)Ā 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification (Preferred)Ā 

EXPERIENCE:Ā 

  • 2 years' operating room experience requiredĀ 

  • 3 years preferredĀ Ā 

  • Must be experienced in a circulating roleĀ 

Ā Ā Ā 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:  

  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areasĀ 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skillsĀ 

  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilitiesĀ 

  • Basic computer proficiencyĀ 

  • Fluency in another language a plusĀ

Compensation Range:

$39.02- $90.05

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
