About The Position

 We are seeking a skilled Family Practice Physician Assistant for a locum tenens position at a Correctional Facility in Massachusetts. This 40-day assignment starts on 06/02/2025, and requires expertise in family medicine with a focus on addiction medicine and some familiarity with prenatal care. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with daily rounds of 20-30 patients, managing detox cases, collaborating with dental teams, and handling administrative tasks. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM, with rounds starting at 7:30 AM. Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct daily rounds of 20-30 patients, starting at 7:30 AM

• Manage and treat patients in the medical unit, with a focus on detox cases

• Review patient issues and reasons for medical housing

• Collaborate with dental team to clear patients for extractions

• Handle administrative work, including timely email responses

• Occasionally round on sick patients within specific time windows

• Provide care for patients with opioid use disorder

• Consult on prenatal care cases as needed

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

• Adhere to all safety and security protocols specific to the correctional setting

Additional Information:

• Must be licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts

• Experience with ERMA (Electronic Records Management Application) preferred

• Comfortable working in a correctional environment

• Strong communication and time management skills required

• Ability to adapt to unique healthcare challenges in a secure facility
