JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement, Enrollment Management, and Retention works with the Director and other colleagues to encourage and support undergraduate student enrollment, engagement, and retention in the College of Engineering. Working with the Director, the Assistant Director holds primary responsibility for the management, planning, implementation, and ongoing operations of the College of Engineering Tutoring Center, including: the first-year tutoring schedule; upper-class tutoring schedule; Chemistry Review and Physics Review Sessions; the hiring, training, and managing the team of Tutors and Scheduling Coordinators/Front Desk team; as well as ongoing reporting and assessments of Tutoring Center services; and updating of Tutoring Center website.
Working in close collaboration with the Director, the Assistant Director implements the first-year survey and works effectively with the Director and others involved in the delivery of COE curriculum to assess teaching quality and student experience and identify impediments to academic progress and areas of opportunity for improvements. The Assistant Director tracks data on department efforts, preparing reports as needed.
The Assistant Director works with the Director on all connected elements of undergraduate student enrollment, engagement, and retention efforts, such as providing logistical and operational support for events and activities, taking on an active role as needed. The Assistant Director supports prospective student engagement and enrollment efforts through overseeing the COE Ambassadors program, including recruiting, hiring, training, and creating events’ student staffing schedules. Collaborates with Director on the planning and implementation of enrollment events and activities, including co-presenting as needed and representing the college among attendees, and providing support for ongoing and new enrollment and engagement events and programs. With the Director, the Assistant Director supports the COE Student Activities Council (SAC) including managing key events, securing campus locations, facilitating catering and purchases in support of current student engagement and development. This position reports directly to the Director of Student Engagement, Enrollment Management, and Retention in the College of Engineering.Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in higher education, student affairs/services.
- Must possess strong program and people management skills, including team-building and coaching abilities. Strong commitment to student experience, development, and belonging.
- Must possess strong organizational abilities and time-management skills, with capability to manage/prioritize multiple projects and teams.
- Analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills required, along with attention to detail.
- Ability to identify data needed to drive decision-making and to lead and support diverse initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills among a variety of audiences including students, faculty, and staff, as well as prospective students and families/guests.
- Seeking an experienced self-motivated, collaborative, team-oriented, proactive, individual with a strong focus on student enrollment, engagement, retention, support, and success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Organizational Management:
- Manages College of Engineering Tutoring Center operations.
- Plans, creates, and implements first-year tutoring schedule, upper-class tutoring schedule, and Chemistry Review and Physics Review, addressing trends in student support needs and ensuring adequate offerings and Tutor staff to support services in Boston and across global network.
Student Success Assessment, Retention Support, and Data Tracking/Reporting:
- Works effectively with Director and others involved in the delivery of COE curriculum with regard to student retention and experience.
- Implements COE first-year survey every fall and spring semester to gather data and information to information Director, Assistant Dearn, and Associate Dean on student success and impediments to success to improve curriculum, programs, and academic supports for student progress.
- Tracks data on department efforts, preparing reports as needed.
Human Resources, Training, and Student Staff Management:
- Facilitates recruiting and hiring of student staff who support the department, including Tutors, Scheduling Coordinators/Front Desk student staff, and COE Ambassadors, as well as department Co-op if applicable, liaising with Student Employment as needed.
- Creates and delivers trainings for teams of Tutors, Scheduling Coordinators/Front Desk student staff, and COE Ambassadors.
- Approves student timesheets, reflecting hours worked.
- Oversees COE Tutors, Scheduling Coordinators/Front Desk student staff, and COE Ambassadors, providing ongoing management and coaching.
Student Enrollment and Engagement Support:
- Work with Director of Student Engagement, Enrollment Management and Retention on all connected elements, such as supporting enrollment and engagement events and activities.
- Strengthen prospective student engagement through overseeing COE Ambassadors program.
- With Director, provides support to COE Student Activities Council (SAC) including managing key events such as the COE Club Fair, Selecting a Major Panel, and SAC Leadership Dinner.
- Provides logistical and operational support for department programs and events focused on student retention, engagement, and enrollment management, including room/campus space reservations and food orders.
- Collaborates with Director in implementation, including co-presenting as needed and interacting with attendees (prospective student, families/guests, current students, etc.) at events and programming for prospective and admitted students, serving as a positive representative reflecting the mission of the department, college, and university.

108SExpected Hiring Range:
$60,315.00 - $85,192.50With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
