Associate, Data Governance & Strategy

Asset Management – AM Data

Role Summary

The Asset Management (AM) Data Team is a centralized team driving a “Data First” mindset across AM. As a Data Governance & Strategy Associate, you will support key initiatives that strengthen AM’s data strategy, data controls, and data fluency. You will work across multiple AM business areas including Equity, Fixed Income, Quantitative Research & Insights, Digital Assets, and Compliance to help ensure data is effectively managed, trusted, and usable for analytical and operational needs.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the full asset management data landscape, support emerging data capabilities, and contribute to how the organization governs and leverages data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in data-driven projects and perform exploratory data analysis for cross asset management initiatives.
  • Assist the team in executing on the data strategy for Fidelity, focusing on data needs specific to the investment management process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Asset Management teams including portfolio management, research, risk and compliance to ensure data needs are met and aligned with business objectives.
  • Support evaluations of traditional and non-traditional data sources to assist teams in data selection and sourcing.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management Technology, FFIO, and other Asset Management business partners to implement innovative and creative solutions.
  • Help promote data fluency and consistent governance practices across asset management’s diverse set of business areas.
  • Support the development of reporting, scorecards and metrics that measure progress across governance and strategy initiatives in asset management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-2 years working with investment or financial data with a focus on data management and analysis.
  • Foundational understanding or strong interest in learning data governance, data quality, and data management practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with comfort, exploring, and interpreting data.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data concepts to both technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Curiosity and a desire for continuous learning, particularly around evolving investment data and industry practices.
  • Strong SQL Skills or capacity to learn quickly. Familiarity with other analytics tools (Power Bi, Python, SAS) is a plus.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $67,000-$127,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
