Associate, Modeling

Medicus Economics | Boston, MA (preferred) or remote | Full Time

Medicus Economics is seeking a highly skilled Associate Modeler to support the design, development, and validation of health economic and disease models for leading biopharmaceutical clients. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy technically challenging quantitative work and want to contribute to projects that are published in high-quality health economics and pharmacoeconomics journals and inform global HTA submissions, pricing, reimbursement, and patient access.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, implement, and validate decision-analytic models, including cost-effectiveness, budget-impact, and disease-progression models (e.g., Markov, microsimulation, partitioned survival).
  • Program model components in R and Excel/VBA; perform sensitivity, scenario, and uncertainty analyses.
  • Critically evaluate evidence—including epidemiology, clinical data, health utilities, and costs—and translate findings into robust model inputs.
  • Identify structural limitations and methodological weaknesses in models and propose improvements.
  • Contribute to client deliverables: technical model documentation, project reports, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate (preferred), Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’ degree in health economics, biostatistics, decision sciences, operations research, or a related quantitative field.
  • Hands-on experience developing health economic or disease models.
  • Proficiency in Excel/VBA and R (preferred).
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and ability to assess evidence quality.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks independently.
