Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Midwifery Division is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team. Our practice has been here since the inception of the OB Department, which started in 1994. We strive to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to our clients that is culturally congruent and respectful to their individuality. MGH midwives provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, family planning and abortion care to the clients we serve.
We have a total of 21 midwives within our practice that speak a variety of languages such as Spanish, Haitian Creole, Russian and Czech. We provide full-scope midwifery care to clients at MGH Centers for Outpatient care including Yawkey, Danvers, and Waltham, as well as MGH Affiliated Health Centers in Chelsea and Revere. We also provide 24/7 coverage on labor and delivery and in our OB triage unit; manage the postpartum service; and run a thriving outpatient triage clinic.
The MGH OB/GYN Department is a level 4 maternity care center. The Obstetrics Program delivers 3,700 babies a year and the midwifery service attends about 700 of those births. We are a collaborative practice and work alongside Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians, OB/GYN Specialists, Genetic Counselors, Ultrasound Technicians, Nurses, and Medical Assistants. As MGH is an academic teaching hospital, we value educating and teaching midwifery students, OB/GYN & emergency medicine residents and medical students. Our midwives can become faculty appointed in Harvard Medical School.
We desire an experienced midwife with 3+ years of experience who can work in our inpatient and outpatient setting. This position is a 24-hour role with clinical administrative time.

Skills and Experience:
⢠3 yearsā experience as a Nurse Midwife preferred.
⢠Skills in interpersonal communication, teamwork and organization required.
⢠Language skills preferred: Spanish, Haitian Creole, Arabic, or Portuguese
Education/Degree:
⢠Graduation from an educational program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery and Education (ACME).
⢠Masterās Required.
Licensure, Certifications, or Registration:
⢠Successful completion of the certifying examination by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
⢠Enrollment in the Certification Maintenance Program by AMCB.
⢠Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)

Essential Functions
-Provide prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and/or newborn care to patients.
-Monitor fetal development by listening to fetal heartbeat, taking external uterine measurements, identifying fetal position, or estimating fetal size and weight.
-Document patients' health histories, symptoms, physical conditions, or other diagnostic information.
-Provide patients with direct family planning services, such as inserting intrauterine devices, dispensing oral contraceptives, and fitting cervical barriers, including cervical caps or diaphragms.
-Prescribe medications as permitted by state regulations.
-Develop and implement individualized plans for health care management.
-Explain procedures to patients, family members, staff members, or others.
-Order and interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests.
