Job Summary
Summary: Responsible for coordinating onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and professional development activities within the Sterile Processing Department. Partners with operational leaders, educators, and subject matter experts to support workforce development through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and real-time coaching in the clinical work environment. Ensures staff possess the knowledge, technical skills, and competencies necessary to perform their roles safely, effectively, and in compliance with departmental and regulatory requirements.Does this position require Patient Care? Essential Functions:
-Provides hands-on instruction, coaching, and competency validation within the clinical work environment, working alongside staff to develop technical proficiency in sterile processing practices, instrumentation, equipment operation, and departmental procedures.
-Coordinates and facilitates the onboarding, orientation, and training activities for new employees, students, apprentices, and other learners.
-Develops, organizes, and delivers educational programs, in-service events, training materials, educational programs, and competency resources utilizing adult learning principles and departmental standards.
-Facilitates competency validation programs, completes annual competency assessments, and conducts ongoing education activities to support employee development and regulatory compliance.
-Maintains training records, certification documentation, competency records, and other required educational documentation.
-Collaborates with operational leaders and preceptors to monitor employee progress, identify learning needs, and support successful completion of orientation and training requirements.
-Provides supplemental education, coaching, and remediation support for employees requiring additional training or competency development.
-Supports certification preparation, continuing education, apprenticeship programs, and professional development activities for sterile processing staff.
-Serves as a technical resource regarding sterile processing practices, departmental procedures, regulatory requirements, and competency expectations; maintains competency in sterile processing operations and may support department operations as needed.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Bachelor's Degree General Studies preferred
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes
Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required
Experience: Previous experience in designing and delivering training programs for healthcare professionals, preferably in a CPD or professional development capacity 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills needed to maintain constructive working relationships within and outside of the department.
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Program planning and organizational skills to effectively manage work and educational data collection.
- Customer service skills are required to effectively meet staff needs and build departmental and external relationships.
- Basic computer skills required to communicate electronically and to work with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
