Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for patient care and a comprehensive understanding of dental hygiene practices, with the ability to deliver exceptional oral health services in a fast-paced clinical environment. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health, supporting diagnosis and treatment planning, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout their visit. Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, to promote optimal oral health.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating periodontal status.
  • Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term oral health habits.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding for billing purposes using medical coding standards.
  • Monitor infection control protocols diligently to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate patient care plans within general dentistry and pediatric dentistry specialties as needed.
  • Stay current with advancements in dental terminology, medical terminology, and industry best practices through ongoing education.

Requirements

 

Skills

  • Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record keeping.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control procedures essential for safe practice.
  • Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in chairside assisting techniques including medical imaging, vital signs measurement, and aseptic technique implementation.
  • Familiarity with medical records management, HIPAA compliance standards, and medical coding practices related to dental services.
  • Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental assessments and treatment planning.
  • Ability to work efficiently within a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
